(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Muslim community in Morang district of Nepal is preparing to celebrate Bakar Eid, which is known as the festival of sacrifice in Islam. The three-day festival is starting on Wednesday.
Seventy days after the holy month of Ramadan is the time when pilgrims visit the Holy shrine of Mecca in Saudi Arabia and the next day is Bakar Eid.
During Bakar Eid Muslims in the district like that in other places sacrifice animals (goats and cows) to remember the willingness of the greatness of Allah, the Muslim God. Muslims call this sacrifice "Qurbani".
Feasts are held as Muslim people sit together and eat the meat of the sacrificed animal. Muslims also wear new clothes, prepare tasty dishes and exchange gifts. Bakar Eid falls on the same day each year, according to the Islamic lunar calendar.
